No, I’m not going to recommend RPG or Battle Royal games neither I’m going to mention famous single player titles like God of War or Last of Us.
I’ll try to list down titles which would provide you with a unique gaming experience you won’t find in regular day to day titles.

1. Superhot

Superhot

Superhot is a first person shooter game in which time moves as you move, with each step you take the rest of environment moves with you.

In a way, the game cleverly portrays the perspective of speedster like Flash or Quicksilver where you’re faster than your enemies. Sounds easy? Not so much as the complexity increases as level up. The game is available on PC, PS4 & Xbox, you can try the prototype on your browser on https://superhotgame.com/superhot-prototype/#prototype-section

2. Limbo

Limbo is a game that feels both cute and dark at the same time. The plot follows a nameless boy traversing through a deep dark forest solving puzzles and escaping a giant spider behind him. At the end of the game you’re left wondering what you just went through because the game provides no narrative and the ending is left for personal interpretation.

3. Gone Home

Gone home is one of those games that is just pure navigation. You don’t need to solve complex puzzles, jump your way out of obstacles or fight bosses.

The game starts with you returning home from overseas after a long time. You browse through the house interacting with objects and uncovering the narration by non-linear progression.

4. Her Story

The game features live action clips of the girl shown in the cover. It starts with you sitting against a computer with a database open and a list of videos based on the query “murder”. You have the option to watch those videos, try to understand the context and then search for any term and the system would return results based on the transcript of other videos. Yes, that’s the game and it’s not a piece of cake. You would have to make notes, connect the videos, understand the expression and build a narrative based on random timelines.
You think you’d be a good detective? Try this game.

5. The Stanley Parable

You are Stanley, the silent protagonist of the game. The narration dictates the game and orders Stanley what to do and where to go. Now, for each of these you have a choice, follow the narrator’s instruction or not. In either case the game branches & each combination of these choices leads to something unique. The game has multiple endings and you can explore them all depending on how deep you’re willing to go.
Do you enjoy watching mind-fuck movies? Try this game if you would like to experience one yourself.
